New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest (NJISACF), now in its second year, produced by the Asian American Film and Theater Project, showcases independent films by or about South Asians. The annual fest promotes and recognizes the talents of the new, the established, the best and the brightest independent filmmakers from across the globe.
NJISACF 2008 will take place on August 22 through 24, 2008, at the George Street Playhouse, New Brunswick, New Jersey. The three-day festival will screen feature, short, documentary and animated films of all genres by and about South Asians from across the globe, with accompanying filmmaker Q & As, and panel discussions on various topics related to the craft and business of filmmaking. Jury and Audience Choice Prizes will be awarded for excellence in various categories.
NJISACF 2007 screened 38 films from 9 different countries, and was an overwhelming success and received rave reviews and wide coverage in the media. Filmmakers are invited to submit films of all genres (including animation), formats and length. Films should have been completed no earlier than 2006.
Submissions for NJISACF 2007 will be accepted only through May 30, 2008. Films postmarked after May 30, 2008 will not be considered for the festival.
