Hollywood Masala

Hi Everyone,

I'm an actor/writer from Canada (Edmonton, Alberta). I've been working in the industry here for two and a half years now. Built up experience on both sides of the camera. I really want to focus on acting, writing, and producing now. For that I feel that I have to leave home for a while and pursue my career south of the border.

Having made some friends in both New York and Los Angeles, I'm looking for more feedback from people in the industry on which city would be more ideal to go to for work in film and television.

Or if you have some suggestions other than those two, I'd welcome those too. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Personally, I feel there are a lot more resources and opportunities to collaborate on projects in L.A.

However, that's just based on what I've heard from other folks since I haven't actually lived in NYC for a very long time.   

Thank you, Kiran. I've been hearing the same thing from some other friends. I'd really like the opportunity to get closer to the Indian Filmmaking community as well. And from the discussions on this forum, LA would be a beneficial move for me.

I'm from Los Angeles...there are ALOT of windows open here in the Entertainment industry. I hope you make the best decison for yourself. :) Good Luck!

The industry is primarily in LA.  Just look at the shows and see which ones are shot in LA and which ones are in NY.  Then make your decision off of that. 

BTW, If you want to do theatre, LA is definitely NOT the place.  There's not much love for theatre here like there is in NYC.
